Sasa ORLOVIC Bio-Résumé

Sasa Orlovic was born in Novi Sad in 1965. He graduated from the Faculty of Forestry (1990), University of Belgrade (Serbia) and MSc (1993) and PhD (1996) completed at the same faculty. Full professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Novi Sad (Serbia). He spent short periods of time at thirty one different foreign universities and institutes. Memberships of several national and international scientific associations and organizations : (i) Member of Unit for flora and vegetation of Serbian Academy of Science and Art (since 2009); (ii) Member and representative of Serbia in Internationa Union of Forestry Research Organisations (since 2004); (iii) Member of Executive Committee of International Poplar Commission UN-IPC (since 2008); (iv) Member of Management Committee of Serbian Association of forest engineers and technicians (since 2013); (v) Member and vice chair of Steering Committee of Forest Enterprise Vojvodinasume (2003-2005), (vi) Member of Serbian society of geneticists. He participated at seven international meetings as an invited speaker and he officially represented Republic of Serbia during important international events in Oslo (2011), New York (2011) and Rome (2012).  Member in several scientific and professional bodies of the Republic of Serbia. Currently held position of Vice – rector of University of Novi Sad (2015-2018), director of Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment and Chair of the Scientific Board. Member in councils and editorial boards of scientific journals: Journal „Genetika“; Journal „Cotemporary Agriculture“; Spanish Journal of Rural Development; Balkan Journal of Ecology; Acta Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis; Editor in chief of Journal “Poplars”; Member of Editorial Board of „Forestry“. Involved in various  scientific, research and development national and international projects. Fluent in English.  Author and coauthor of 2 books, and about 200 other scientific papers.
